Ces deux pommes ont fait l'objet d'une fiche éditée par l'association des croqueurs de pommes.
Ces fiches mentionnent une confusion historique.
Le verger français dans son édition de 1947 indique que la reinette d'Angleterre est d'origine très ancienne et inconnue, toujours confondue avec la royale d'Angleterre.
Le Verger Français souligne que la Reinette d'Angleterre aurait été retrouvée et authentifiée par MM GRISARD frères pépinièristes à Albertville.
Le verger français à été édité par la société de pomologie française. À l'époque cette société rassemblait tous les professionnels du fruit et à compté jusqu'à 5000 membres.
En lisant attentivement le verger français (reproduit par les croqueurs de pommes), on s'apercevra que M. Louis chasset portait un titre assez amusant : " secrétaire perpétuel".
C'est amusant mais c'est le titre dont il avait été affublé par l'estime de ses collègues.
En 1947, trois années avant sa mort, M. LOUIS CHASSET était un monument de la pomologie française et il était déjà à ce poste depuis 44 ans. Il y restera jusqu'au jour de son décès en mai 1950.
La société de pomologie française éditait un bulletin mensuel :
Dans son numéro de janvier 1938, j'ai retrouvé un article de Louis chasset relatant les circonstances dans lesquelles M. Grisard a rapporté la reinette d'Angleterre à la société de pomologie française. Louis Chasset, a fait une étude historique complète et une synthèse des types différents de Reinette et Royale d'Angleterre. Cette étude fut adoptée.
J'ai pensé qu'il pouvait être intéresserant de vous livrer cette étude historique en reproduisant fidèlement Louis chasset qui a été le plus grand pomologue de notre siècle et que l'on a souvent tendance à oublier.

The historical truth

These two apples have made the object of a form published by  association "Croqueurs de pommes".
These forms mention a historical confusion.
The French orchard in its publishing of 1947 indicates that the rennet of England is very ancient and unknown origin, always
confused with royal of  England.
The French Orchard underlines that the Rennet of England would have been found and authenticated by  GRISARD brothers
nurserymen in Albertville.
The "Verger Français" was  published by the association :"  pomologie Française ". At that time, this company gathered all professionals of
the fruit and has counted  until 5000 members.
By reading attentively the French orchard (reproduced by the "croqueurs of pommes"), one will notice that Mr. Louis Chasset carried
a title fun enough : " perpetual secretary".
It is fun but it is the title whose it had been worn by the esteem of its colleagues.
In 1947, three years before its death, Mr. LOUIS CHASSET was a monument of  French Pomologie and he was already to this
position since 44 years. It will remain there until the day of its death in May 1950.
The company of  french pomology published a monthly bulletin :
In its number of January 1938, I have found an article of Louis Chasset relating circumstances in which Mr. Grisard
has brought the rennet of England to the company of french pomology.Louis Chasset, has made a complete historical study and
a different type synthesis of Rennet and Royal of England. This study was adopted.
I have thought that it could be of interest to deliver you this historical study by reproducing faithfully Louis Chasset that has been
the greatest pomologist of our century and that one has often tendency to forget.
